Bretheren,

We recently received a comment from a brother fellowcraft asking that we support him and particularly his wifes endevour to raise funds for Childrens Hospital.  Our new brother is looking for ways to incorporate the exemplary conduct of Masonry into his family by including his wifes endevours to help this fine organization. Please read his comments and most importantly help Childrens Hospital in any way we can.

Fraternally,
Darrell J. Noble WM, 32°

I recently saw where you said “It is by our exemplary conduct as Masons in raising our families and in our business and professional relationships, that we will attract new men to our Fraternity. When we speak of the moral and ethical principles of Freemasonry only within the Lodge, they can become stale and routine recitations of ritual. But when we begin to live by these precepts and apply them in our dealings with our families, friends, and the society at large, not only will we have an effect on those around us, but also we will attract new members and Masons to our Lodges.”

That directly impacted me. I recently had to choose between getting to have an outdoor 3rd degree or personal obligations. I chose to go with what Masonry was about…
So, thank you.

I have to admit as a guy, I am uncomfortable asking for help, but I think this is worth it.
Would you help this Fellowcraft create for my wife some of the sense of support and belonging that being part of the Masonic family can offer?

While I have her complete support in being a Mason, since she does not get a chance to be directly involved in things, the impact of the Craft isn’t really felt directly. As a Social Worker for the Denver Hospice, she has recently had some exposure to Masons being good men, but this hair-brained idea of mine can set it in stone..

The last week of July is a fundraising bicycle ride through the mountains to raise money for Childrens Hospital. The bicycle ride is about 150 miles and over 10,000 feet of climbing over three days.

This year is very different. My wife, Nina, is also doing the ride. It is a huge leap of faith for her to join me doing this. She is not much of a bicycle rider.

Would you go to her site and donate or at least leave a comment of support? The website I set up for her is:  http://www.couragetours.com/2010/ninamizer

My sending this note to you allows me to support her in doing something important to her, and your support of her can create an environment where she understands the time spent apart from family for Masonic activities, and education in future years.

Thanks for doing what you feel comfortable doing and please feel free to pass on this email to others. I think getting a lot of people visiting could be historical.

Thanks !

DON’T LET THE MASONIC BAND CAMP MARCH WITHOUT YOUR STUDENT

The 2010 MASONIC HIGH SCHOOL BAND CAMP will be held on The University of Northern Colorado Campus (UNC) in Greeley, Colorado, from June 29 to July 3, 2010. We encourage your organization to provide a scholarship for one or more students. The Fees are $300.00 for each High School student, which covers the expenses except travel to and from Greeley. This fee can come from organization funds, members donations, or other means. All Colorado High School Band Directors will be sent an announcement, as well as a student application form. Should your organization wish to provide a scholarship for this program you may contact any High School Band Director as soon as possible, informing them that you are offering a scholarship(s) and ask them to select a student. Feel free to contact: Marvin Feldman, at 303-771-2889, email: mafhorn@comcast.net or the Grand Lodge at 719-471-9587 or 303-872-6120 Web site: coloradofreemasons.org for assistance.

It is very important that after a student is selected, you contact him/her prior to the Band Camp to make certain that the student is going to attend and, you may wish to bring the student and his/her parents to your Lodge/meeting to meet them and present them their scholarship. This would make a wonderful meeting night program and is a great way to get Masonic awareness.

All monies and application forms should be in no later that April 15, 2010. Recipients will be notified by the first week in May. Enrollment is limited to 120 students, so don’t delay in contacting your High School Band Director.

The High School Band Director can help you select a student. Students must be enrolled as 9th grade, 10th grade, and 11th grade students during the 2009-2010 school year. They should be experienced with at least one marching band instrument. If you wish to sponsor more then one student you may do so. Please send us their names and the instrument they play, this will help us develop a well-balanced instrumentation.

If you are unable to find a student(s) to sponsor the Band Camp will be happy to find a student(s) for you as we always have applicants from many areas where there is no sponsor.
The Colorado Masonic Band Camp is a 501c(3) tax exempt charitable corporation organized under the laws of Colorado. All donations are tax deductible.

Colorado Child ID Program

The Worst happens more often than you think

• More than 14,000 Colorado children are abducted each year, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
• If something happens, such as abduction, the faster you can provide accurate and complete information to the authorities, the better the chances are of a happy ending.
• Local Masonic lodges are helping families prepare child “ID” information in case the worst happens to them.
• Parents bring their children to local events, where a computer software program captures digital fingerprints, and photographs of their children. A paper copy is printed for the parents for them to record vital information on their Child. A plastic bag is also included for the child’s DNA sample.
• The parents leave with three documents; Personal Safety information page, ID Cards and the Main ID page.
• These printouts can supply the police with the information they need in the case of abduction.
• The software is designed not to keep any digital trace of the captured information in the system. It supplies a hard copy only.
• The process is meant to be completely confidential!
• The parents and children go through the whole process together, showing the kids that there is nothing to worry about and this is being done to help keep them safe.
• You should update your child’s “ID” information, including a photograph, every six months. Children’s appearances change that quickly. That’s why programs like this are so helpful. Read more

The highest calling for a Freemason is to help others regardless of race, creed, color, religion, gender, or Masonic affiliation. Ever since the Fraternity came to these shores from Great Britain during the colonial period of American history, Masons have sought to provide relief and assistance for those in need.

True to this calling, the Scottish Rite Foundation of Colorado was created in 1953 by Scottish Rite Masons in Denver. Its work is known as the RiteCare Childhood Language Program. It helps enable Colorado families obtain the highest quality of speech-language therapy services for their children with language disorders. Read more
